Even if you have no problem with your vision, regular eye exams are critical to eye health, says Justin L. Gottlieb, M.D., a retina specialist and associate professor of ophthalmology at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics in Madison.
* Who Provides Eye Care?
Ophthalmologists-medical doctors who specialize in eyes-provide total eye care, prescribing corrective lenses, diagnosing and treating eye problems, and performing surgery. Optometrists assess vision, prescribe corrective lenses and diagnose and sometimes treat eye problems. Opticians fill prescriptions for glasses and contact lenses.
* What Happens during an Eye Exam?
In a standard eye exam, the practitioner gives tests that measure visual acuity, or vision; evaluates refraction, which helps determine a person's prescription for glasses or contacts; and checks for eye problems. An ophthalmologist also checks eye movement and peripheral vision and examines the front and back of the eye.
"Ophthalmologists [and optometrists] use a slit lamp, which shines an intense line of light to illuminate the cornea, iris and other structures located at the front of the eye," says Dr. Gottlieb. Special drops dilate the pupil and let the doctor view the retina and other structures at the back of the eye with an instrument called an ophthalmoscope. Doctors also examine the skin around the eye.
* When Should I Get a Vision Exam?
If you don't wear corrective lenses or have a family history of eye disease or a condition that can affect vision, such as diabetes, get an eye exam every two to four years between the ages of 40 and 64. Starting at age 65, get one every year to two years. If you wear glasses or contacts, ask your eye doctor how often you should have an exam. You may need more frequent exams if you have a family history of eye disease or a condition that can affect vision. If you are African American, get more frequent eye exams, since your risk of glaucoma is higher.
* Why is Proper Eye Care Important?
The right corrective lenses can enhance your quality of life. More important, early diagnosis of eye disease can prevent vision loss.

Golf Basics - What you Need to Know

The hole is located on the green, which is a piece of short and well-maintained grass. Once you are already on the green, you need to use your putter, which is the club that has a slab-like end, instead of your other normal clubs.
Every hole has a specified target number of shots to be done from the tee to the hole. This is called the par. For instance, if you are on a par 5 hole, you would need to get the ball from the tee to the hole in five shots or less. If you were able to do it with exactly the number of shots specified, then your score would be a par. If you did it in one less than the par, your score would be a birdie. If you did it in two less than the par, your score would be an eagle. Three below par would be called an albatross and the best score would be a hole in one, which happens if you were able to get the ball from the tee to the hole in one hit.
On the other hand, if you scored one more than the par then that would be a bogey. Two more than the par would be a double bogey. If you have tried for more that 12 shots, then you forfeit the hole. You would then have to move to the next hole.
Eventually, as you go through the game, there would be various hazards that you would have to deal with. If your ball lands on the rough, which is an area on the course that has long grass, you could find it difficult to move on from that area. There could also be trees on the rough of some courses, which could make them harder to get out of. The worst hazards would be the lakes and the ponds, because if you hit the ball into one, it would cost you the shot you took and another shot as a penalty, which would make it harder to reach par.

How to Transfer Music From Ipod to Itunes and Pc

1. Open itunes on your old computer.
2. Connect your ipod to your old computer and wait for it to appear in itunes.
3. Select your ipod in the Source pane under the Devices section to display your ipod preferences in the main library window.
4. Click the Summary tab in the main itunes window.
5. Click the Manually manage music button. Changing from automatic updating to manual puts a check mark by Enable disk use. A message says "Disabling automatic update requires manually unmounting the ipod before each disconnect."
6. Click OK in the message window.
7. Click Apply in the ipod preferences section of the itunes window.
2. Is there enough room on the ipod? ipod shares its hard disk space between the songs that itunes puts on it and any files you've added when using its disk mode. To transfer music with your ipod, you need enough free space to hold a copy of all your music files in addition to any copies that may already have been placed by itunes (this is because non-purchased songs placed on the ipod by itunes cannot be copied off the ipod while in disk mode). To figure out how much space you have on your ipod:
1. Open itunes on your old computer.
2. Click on Music in the Source pane. The size of your library appears at the bottom of the itunes window.
3. Connect your ipod to your old computer and wait for it to appear in itunes.
4. Click the ipod under the Devices section of the Source pane. The amount of free space on the ipod appears near the bottom of the itunes window.
3. Copy itunes folder to ipod To copy all your music files (including the library file that holds all your playlists and other settings) to your ipod:
1. Quit itunes.
2. Locate your ipod:
? Mac OS X: On the desktop
? Windows: In My Computer
3. Locate your itunes folder:
? Mac OS X: /Users/username/Music
? Windows: Documents and SettingsusernameMy DocumentsMy Music
4. Drag the itunes folder to the ipod. This can take a while if you have a lot of songs.
5. When the copy completes open itunes.
6. Click on the ipod in the Source pane
7. Click the Eject button in the lower right corner of the itunes window.
8. Disconnect the ipod from the computer when the "Do not disconnect" message no longer appears on the ipod screen.
4. Get itunes ready on your new computer To get itunes ready to accept all your music on your new computer:
1. Download and install the latest version of itunes.
2. Open itunes on your new computer. If this is your first time to open itunes on your new computer you will need to choose your options in the itunes Setup Assistant.
3. Connect the ipod to your new computer.
5. Copy music from ipod to new computer To copy all your music files (including the library file that holds all your playlists and other settings) to your new computer:
1. Locate your Music folder (Mac OS X) or your My Music folder (Windows) on your new computer:
? Mac OS X: /Users/username/Music
? Windows: Documents and SettingsusernameMy DocumentsMy Music
2. Drag the itunes folder in this location out to the desktop.
3. Locate the ipod on the new computer:
? Mac OS X: On the desktop.
? Windows: In My Computer.
4. Double-click on the ipod to open it.

6. Open itunes.

Another reason that you may be failing at your diet is because of a lack of support. You may have family members who can eat whatever they want and seemingly not gain a pound. As a result, they may fill your refrigerator with junk food, leading you into temptation. Also, you may feel as if you have no one to turn to in order to discuss your weight problems. In order to solve this problem, many individuals look to psychotherapists to help them with their food-related issues. This can be particularly important if an individual has turned to purging in an effort to combat their weight problems. Yet another reason for diet failure is hidden calories. You may literally be consuming calories and not even realize it. By taking a few simple steps, such as eliminating the exotic coffee drinks from your diet and substituting skim milk for whole milk, you may be able to eliminate the hidden calories that are denying you dieting success.
Lack of consistency can also be a diet-killer. You might go on a diet for a while, then quit before you’ve made any measurable progress. It’s only natural to want to see quick results. The problem is that healthy weight lose involves loseing only a couple of pounds a week. That means you’ll have to stay on your diet for months before you see appreciable weight loss. Discouraging? It can be, but if you keep a positive attitude you can achieve your ideal weight.
You may also be more successful in your dieting if you consider it to be a lifestyle change. Therefore, your diet becomes a meal plan for life. This means that you must change the way you look at food. It is designed to be fuel for your body, and nothing more. As a result, you should not turn to food to make you feel better or to provide you with a sense of comfort. A lifestyle change implies commitment; it means that you are prepared to follow the plan for the long haul. If you feel as if you cannot be on your diet for any appreciable length of time, perhaps it’s time to consider a different diet. Your aim ultimately should be not simply to lose weight, but to become healthier. A fad diet will not allow you to reach that milestone. Therefore, you must choose your diet carefully.
