My search for a free download of the Zelig movie was fruitless but I managed to find some great reviews about it. There were people who considered the movie absolutely bogus but the majority of people agreed that this movie is great and it is worth watching. However, have in mind that the movie requires your full attention; otherwise you can miss a lot of the humor.

The reviews say that Zelig resembles a documentary about an individual who is actually not a person. The main character borrows other people?s personality and features because he doesn?t have a personality of his own.

This personality borrowing is the main topic. The poor man assumes so many and different personalities (such as a pope, a dictator, and a novelist) that you can?t help but laugh at all of the transformations he goes through.

So, what is the message Woody Allen is trying to convey with this comedic attempt at portraying an individual with chameleon-like qualities? One review suggests it is a satiric approach to the importance of being your own person, without the need to seek public approval.

Some say that the main character is based on Woody Allen himself. This is hardly the case because Woody Allen certainly does not seek public approval for what he does, though to some extend his own personality is somehow controversial. But the movies he directs and acts in are certainly everything but lacking personality.
